No Formal Sittings at Arnold Park During the Staff Break

There will be no formal sittings during the staff break which starts on Wednesday, August 28, and runs through Tuesday, September 11. If you are a full member, you are welcome to come and sit informally during the break. There will be someone at the reception desk during most of our normal office hours.

Two Calendar Changes

The dates for the July 2008 sesshin which were published in the quarterly mailing that was sent out just a few days ago have been changed. In order that Roshi can attend a meeting of the American Zen Teachers Association at Sunyana-sensei’s center in Vermont, we’ve moved that sesshin back a week. It will begin on July 26 and end on August 2, 2008.

Also, the Work Day at Chapin Mill scheduled for September 15, 2007, has been cancelled. Saturday dokusan (for those who can’t come during the week) will be offered that day at 10 am as usual rather than 8:30 as printed in the calendar.

Amala-sensei at Chapin Mill

Amala-sensei will arrive in Rochester just before the October 7-day sesshin and will stay through the November sesshin. During the four weeks between those two sesshins she will lead a work retreat at Chapin Mill. Members are welcome to come for any part, and details will be published in September after our break. Sensei will also lead a sesshin in Cleveland beginning Friday evening, October 19, and ending on Sunday, October 21. If you’d like to attend, send your application to the Rochester Zen Center by Tuesday, October 9.
